Hello! Welcome to a short segment following Lizzie (me), as I travel across Europe. In every new location, stay tuned for an update on the status of neighborhoods, streets, and a feel for the overall culture of a city/area.
WHERE I HAVE BEEN
August, 9, 2018 – Milwaukee, WI
Comments: Thoughts the best place to start out would be at home. Oh, suburbia. I am from Milwaukee county, but live in a suburban district. My departing location is an old neighborhood in the burbs. About a 10 minute drive to Lake Michigan, 15 minutes to downtown, and a relatively central location. My home features no sidewalks, which I would rank as highly unsafe for my dog. Milwaukee is an interesting city. Old manufacturing town which has been surprisingly successful in revitalizing itself since many old industries/factories left; however, the county and city itself is very segregated. Neighborhoods and dividing lines between wealth and poverty are quite evident here. Overall, a calm, typical, suburban area.
